PHNOM PENH: Cambodia has revised its economic growth forecast to 4.2 per cent in 2026, down from its earlier prediction of 5 per cent, mainly due to the impacts of rising fuel prices caused by the Middle East conflict, and the border conflict with Thailand.
"The sharp increase in oil and gas prices has driven inflationary pressures and affected Cambodia's economic growth trajectory," Prime Minister Hun Manet said in the government's medium-term public financial framework report released on Monday (May 4).
"In this new context, Cambodia's economic growth outlook has been revised down to 4.2 per cent for 2026 and 5 per cent for 2027, as well as an average of 5.5 per cent for the medium term in 2028 and 2029," he added.
The nation's economy mainly relies on garment, footwear, and travel goods exports, tourism, agriculture, and real estate and construction. - Xinhua
