The costume fantasy romance drama “Fate Chooses You” is now streaming on iQIYI International as of April 25.
Starring Ren Jialun and Wang Herun, and adapted from a popular novel of the same name, the series tells a love story of two people drawn closer together by fate and bound to support one another through adversity.
The story centers on Lu Qianqiao, played by Ren Jialun, the young master of the War Ghost clan, who is burdened with the “Five Deficiencies” curse, leaving him unable to perceive color, taste, pain, warmth, and emotion.
To break free from the curse, he must endure five life-and-death trials.
Fate brings him together with Xin Mei, played by Wang Herun, a gifted young woman who has long been marginalized because of her unusual destiny. Bound by a contractual alliance, the two begin a journey in which their lives become increasingly intertwined.
As Xin Mei ventures alone into the capital to clear Lu Qianqiao’s name, their bond grows even stronger.
The drama introduces the “Heart-Link Curse,” through which the two share physical pain and emotional fluctuations, gradually turning a partnership built on mutual interest into a true bond of shared destiny. Amid mounting crises, they move from mutual suspicion to genuine support, deepening their understanding of one another as they continue forward side by side.
As the story unfolds, “Fate Chooses You” expands from turmoil in the capital to the mysteries of Chongling Valley and the battlefields of the Western frontier. Each new challenge pushes the characters further along their respective paths.
Xin Mei, meanwhile, continues to shape the course of events with determination and resolve, holding firmly to her own choices despite increasingly complex circumstances. At the same time, the unfolding clues surrounding the “Immortal Elixir” and an ancient spiritual pact add further suspense and intrigue to the story.
Directed by Guo Hu, the series continues a polished visual style and confident pacing. Previous titles available on iQIYI International, including “One and Only” and “Mysterious Lotus Casebook,” have already earned strong market recognition, setting a solid expectation for this new release.
