'Throwback Hits: Retro Bangkit' from DBKL presents a night of past golden local hits in the city on Saturday (April 25)

The Semarak Seni @ Panggung Anniversari 2026 event, themed "Then, Now, and Forever," is a continuous initiative to revive the glory of one of the most iconic and historic art stages in the capital.

Through a more dynamic and inclusive approach, the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is introducing 40 events of various genres that will take place almost every week starting January 2026, thereby making the Anniversari Theater the heartbeat of a vibrant and active cultural scene throughout the year.

Throughout the implementation of this program, various performance concepts have been introduced to cater to the diverse tastes of the audience, including Gegar Panggung, Nostalgia Hits, and Indie Vibes, which not only provide a platform for new talents but also celebrate the diversity of local artistic expressions.

In an effort to ensure the continuity of the artistic legacy, opportunities are also given to a lineup of veteran and seasoned artists to return to the stage through the special series Throwback Hits: Retro Bangkit.

'The Throwback Hits: Retro Bangkit' programme, which will take place on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 3pm to 7pm at the Anniversari Theater, Kuala Lumpur Botanical Garden, is expected to be a nostalgic gathering that reminisces about the glory of the past era.

This performance will feature well-known names in the local arts industry, such as Datuk Siti Fairuz, Azan Scan, Abon, and Ayati Tasrip, supported by Siluman Production and NFG Band, who will enliven the atmosphere with fresh musical arrangements rich in classical elements.

More than just a stage performance, this program is also colored with various side activities that are relaxed and interactive, including an open karaoke session that takes place earlier as a space for the public to share the stage, along with the presence of sales booths and a mass dance segment that surely livens up the atmosphere with warmth and cheerfulness.

The organisation of this programme is also strengthened through collaboration with the Malaysian Veteran Artists Foundation, as an effort to appreciate the contributions of veterans who have significantly colored the country's art industry.

Semarak Seni @ Panggung Anniversari is organized by DBKL through the Department of Culture, Arts, Tourism, and Sports (CATS) with financial support from the Ministry of Finance Malaysia, in line with the ongoing commitment to preserve and reactivate historical locations as art spaces relevant to the times.

At the same time, DBKL also welcomes the involvement of various parties, including government agencies, the private sector, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations, and the arts community, to jointly succeed in the various programs that have been planned.

Through this initiative, Panggung Anniversari is not just a performance venue, but continues to serve as a space that unites generations, creates memories, nurtures talent, and builds new history in the cultural arts landscape of Kuala Lumpur. It reflects a comprehensive effort to ensure that art continues to thrive, evolve, and be appreciated by today's society and future generations.
