Brunei population reaches 458,600 in 2025, at a growth rate of 0.7 per cent


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Xinhua): The estimated total population of Brunei in 2025 has reached 458,600 people, reflecting a growth rate of 0.7 percent, down from 1.1 percent recorded in 2024.

According to data released by Brunei's Department of Economic Planning and Statistics at the Ministry of Finance and Economy on Wednesday, of the total population in 2025, 53.4 per cent, or 244,800 individuals, are males, while 46.6 per cent, or 213,800 individuals, are females.

This results in a sex ratio of 114.5 males for every 100 females. In terms of age distribution, the majority of the population falls within the working-age group.

Individuals aged between 15 and 64 years make up 72.3 per cent, or 331,500 people, of the population.

Meanwhile, those under the age of 15 account for 19.8 per cent, and those aged 65 and above represent 7.9 percent. - Xinhua
