'This is one sweet heist': 15 tonnes of gummies stolen from a lorry parked neat motorway


HAMBURG (Bernama-dpa): A container loaded with some 15 metric tonnes of fruit jellies has been stolen from a lorry parked near a German motorway, German Press Agency (dpa) reported, citing police on Wednesday.

The driver left the vehicle unattended for the day after parking it at a motorway service station near the northern town of Neustadt-Glewe on Tuesday morning at around 7.45 am (0645 GMT), police said in a statement.

When the 41-year-old man returned at around 8.45 pm, the container was gone - and with it €250,000 (US$288,400) worth of its delicious cargo of gummies.

It was initially unclear how the perpetrators were able to lift the container off the lorry unnoticed in plain daylight.
