MANILA: Two individuals were killed and three were injured after the helicopter they were riding in crashed near a residential area in Pililla, Rizal on (March 3) morning, the town mayor said.

“Unfortunately, one of them was dead on site… The other was dead on arrival at the hospital,” Pililla Mayor John Masinsin told reporters in a phone interview.

“The pilot was critically injured and is being processed right now for transfer to a larger hospital… The other two are rather relatively stable… The families of the patients are already in contact with us,” Masinsin noted.

He added that no homes were affected by the crash.

Authorities have yet to determine where the helicopter came from and where it was headed as well as the possible cause of the accident.

“The survivors are still in shock, so we’ve yet to extract the details directly from them. We’re prioritising their recovery,” Masinsin added.

The Pililla mayor confirmed only civilians were aboard the helicopter, including two foreigners.

The local police said that the pilot was licensed. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
