Vietnam to increase flight frequency at major airports during Lunar New Year holiday

HANOI: The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has increased flight frequency at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City and Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi during the Lunar New Year holiday to meet surging travel demand, local daily VnExpress reported on Thursday (Feb 5).

The number of take-offs and landings has been raised from 42 to 46-48 flights per hour at each airport.

Airlines have also been allowed to operate more night flights and increase ticket supply.

During the peak travel period from Feb 12 to Feb 21, passenger throughput at Tan Son Nhat airport is forecast to reach around 1.48 million, while Noi Bai airport is expected to handle approximately 1.08 million passengers. - Xinhua
