One dead, nine injured as passenger bus overturns and falls into ravine in Myanmar

YANGON: One person was killed and nine others injured when a passenger vehicle overturned and fell into a ravine on the Loilin-Nam Sam Union Road in Shan State, according to the Myanmar Fire Service.

The incident occurred at around 10am on Saturday (Jan 17), when a passenger vehicle overturned and fell into a ravine between mileposts (177/1) and (177/2) of the Loilin-Namsan Union Road in Namsan Township, Shan State.

A fire engine from the Loilin District Fire Station, a fire engine from the Namsan Township Fire Station, and the Shan State Fire Service responded to the scene and conducted rescue operations.

The accident resulted in the death of one man and the injury of three men and six women, among the 11 people on board.

The deceased and injured were transported to Loilin District General Hospital by an ambulance from the Loilin District Fire Station, an ambulance from the Nam Sam Township Red Cross Society, and an ambulance from the Mountain Youth Charity Association, according to the Myanmar Fire Service. - Eleven Media/ANN
