CANBERRA, (Australia): (Bernama-Xinhua) The police force in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) has issued a community warning after explosive devices were found near public footpaths in northwest Canberra, the capital of Australia, reported Xinhua.

ACT Policing said in a statement on Wednesday (Jan 14) evening that officers had responded to several incidents of pipe bombs being found in the suburb of Belconnen, 10 km northwest of central Canberra, on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday (Jan 15), Detective Acting Inspector Anna Wronski said that 11 devices had been located and that some had already been detonated.

"Some of the items that have been located have been detonated prior to police locating them, and some have not yet detonated," she said.

Wronski said that police warned members of the public not to touch any further devices they locate.

She said that there have been no reports of anyone sustaining injuries or any property sustaining damage from a detonation and that all the devices have been destroyed.

Members of the public have been advised to report any suspicious items or suspicious behaviour. - Bernama-Xinhua
