Vietnam's air passenger traffic hits record 83.5 million in 2025

HANOI (Xinhua): Vietnam's aviation industry handled 83.5 million passenger trips in 2025, up 10.7 per cent from the previous year, marking the highest level ever recorded, quoting local media VnExpress on Monday.

International routes led the growth, with passenger traffic reaching 46.6 million, up 12 per cent year on year, while cargo volumes soared 22 per cent to about 1.3 million tonnes, according to the report.

Passenger traffic on domestic routes totaled 36.9 million, an increase of 8.4 per cent, while cargo volume stood at 226,800 tonnes, remaining flat as compared to 2024.

Vietnamese carriers now operate 113 international routes and 55 domestic ones. Total passenger traffic in 2026 is projected to reach around 95 million, while cargo throughput is expected to exceed 1.6 million tonnes. -- Xinhua
