Philippine animal welfare group shares how to make ‘anti-anxiety wrap’ for pets during New Year’s Eve

MANILA: As the country prepares for the celebration of New Year’s Day, the Animal Kingdom Foundation on Monday (Dec 29) reminded pet owners to keep their furry friends secured and free from distress caused by the loud noise the occasion will bring.

In a Facebook post, the animal welfare organisation shared steps on how to give their pets an “anti-anxiety wrap,” a garment that applies gentle pressure to ease distress caused by loud noises such as fireworks.

First, a long piece of cloth must be placed around the pet’s chest and down behind its front legs, and then brought around the chest. The cloth should then be crossed under the belly and tied away from the spine.

“Anti-anxiety wraps offer a great solution to many pets and pet owners during a moment of distress, but especially during fireworks on New Year’s Eve,” the Animal Kingdom Foundation said in the post. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
