BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): Brunei Darussalam will continue to experience active weather conditions until Wednesday (Dec 10) morning, with the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) forecasting heavy and thundery showers across several areas.

The country is currently in the Northeast Monsoon season, which typically lasts until March 2026.

According to BDMD, showers — at times heavy and accompanied by thunder — are expected in the afternoon and at night, with conditions potentially persisting until early the following morning. Wind gusts may reach up to 45 kilometres per hour during or near heavy downpours.

Sea conditions over Brunei waters remain moderate, with wave heights of 1.0 to 1.8 metres, posing hazards to small vessels and marine recreational activities.

The department cautioned the public about the heightened risk of flash floods, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas, as well as near riverbanks during extended heavy rain and high tide. Risks of landslides, fallen trees and roof damage are also possible during strong winds and heavy showers.

BDMD advised the public, road users and fishermen to stay updated with the latest weather information, advisories and warnings through the Brunei WX mobile app, its website or social media platforms. The Weather Line at 114 and the Weather Forecast Centre remain available for further information.

The department said it will continue to monitor conditions and issue advisories or warnings as needed. -- Borneo Bulletin/ANN
