60 workers hospitalised in Vietnam's business hub Ho Chi MInh City for suspected food poisoning

HANOI (Xinhua): A total of 60 workers at a company in Vietnam’s southern hub of Ho Chi Minh City were hospitalised with suspected food poisoning, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

The patients exhibited symptoms including diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea, itching, dizziness and skin rashes.

Thirty-six of them were discharged for home monitoring, while 24 remained hospitalised for further treatment.

Doctors said a fish dish served at lunch was the suspected source of the poisoning.

In a separate incident, 19 students at a high school in the city were admitted for emergency care on Thursday night at Thu Duc area's general hospital with symptoms of anaphylaxis after their school lunch.

Doctors said the students may have experienced an allergic reaction caused by a type of fish served in their meal. - Xinhua
