ADB approves US$36mil package to boost job skills in Laos

MANILA (Xinhua): The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Friday announced it has approved a US$36 million financing package to help align technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Laos and expand job opportunities for young people, particularly women.

The initiative aims to strengthen local employment by equipping students with future-ready skills and upgrading TVET facilities to support the country's inclusive and climate-resilient growth.

The bank said Laos continues to face high unemployment and underemployment among young TVET graduates, many of whom lack job-ready skills, and most TVET institutions also operate with outdated equipment and teaching methods.

According to the ADB, the project aims to address these gaps by offering advanced courses in electric-vehicle - Xinhua
