Brunei youth briefed on cyber threats, online safety

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Cyber Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department at the Royal Brunei Police Force was recently invited by Datu Mahawangsa Primary School, Cluster 3, Lambak, to deliver a briefing on online safety.

Some 148 students, from pre-school to Year 6, along with 31 teachers, attended the briefing delivered by Corporal 4747 Syalihen Ludin.

The briefing covered the growing threats of cybercrime on the Internet and the misuse of social media, including gaming applications such as Roblox and others, which have the potential to negatively affect the community.

The participants were also reminded to always be cautious and not be easily influenced by enticing offers.

They were advised to conduct proper research before sharing personal information for their safety. The information shared is important for both students and teachers in helping to protect themselves and their families from becoming victims of cybercrime. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
