MUMBAI: Bollywood fans can breathe a sigh of relief as actor Govinda has shared an update on his health putting to rest rumours about his hospitalisation in Mumbai.

Speaking to ANI, the actor reassured everyone, saying, “Thank you so much… I am fine,” in a brief voice message.

Earlier on Tuesday (Nov 11) morning, Govinda was admitted to Criticare Asia Multispeciality Hospital in Juhu. According to his manager, Shashi Sinha, the actor is conscious and under careful observation.

“Doctors are going to review his condition in the afternoon after which further decisions will come out. His medical tests are still ongoing,” Sinha added.

Details about the exact reason for Govinda’s hospitalisation is not out yet. The news comes shortly after Govinda visited fellow Bollywood veteran Dharmendra at Breach Candy Hospital showing the close-knit bonds of the film fraternity. The actor had joined other stars to check on Dharmendra after the legendary star’s health worsened earlier in the week.

Govinda fondly called the “Dancing King” of Bollywood has been entertaining audiences for decades with his impeccable comic timing and signature dance moves. With hits such as ‘Coolie No. 1’, ‘Hero No. 1’, ‘Saajan Chale Sasural’, ‘Raja Babu’, ‘Dulhe Raja’, ‘Haseena Maan Jaayegi’, he carved a niche as one of the industry’s most loved entertainers.

Over his career spanning more than 120 Hindi films, Govinda earned 12 Filmfare nominations, winning two Special Awards and one Best Comedian Award.

Off-screen, Govinda is a devoted family man. He and his wife, Sunita Ahuja, are proud parents to Tina and Yashvardhan. Tina made her Bollywood debut in 2015 with ‘Second Hand Husband’, while Yashvardhan is gearing up for his own acting journey. - The Statesman/ANN
