Brunei port frontliners briefed on human trafficking


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: A total of 75 frontliners of Muara Port Company Sdn Bhd (MPC) recently gained a better understanding of identifying individuals who may potentially be victims of human trafficking within the country after participating in a briefing on human trafficking crimes by the Human Trafficking Investigation Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department at the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF).

The briefing is part of the RBPF’s efforts to raise awareness and strengthen initiatives to combat human trafficking in Brunei Darussalam.

Enforcement personnel and frontline agencies are encouraged to remain vigilant and to first identify the background of individuals, as they may be at risk of being exploited and trafficked.

The co-operation of frontline personnel is also crucial in playing a proactive role in addressing and combating human trafficking, supporting the RBPF’s efforts in tackling the crime. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
