People’s Pioneer Party candidate arrested for murder in Myanmar


TAUNGGYI, Myanmar: Sai Shwe Htee (pic), a Shan State Hluttaw candidate from the People’s Pioneer Party (PPP) in Taunggyi Township, Shan State (South), has been arrested for murder, confirmed PPP Vice Chairman (2) Saw Han Aye.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 2 am. on November 4, when Sai Shwe Htee and his son, Sai Kyaw Soe Moe, allegedly beat a man named Lawtar (also known as Sai Htun Sar), who was caught stealing chickens from their home in Aye Tharyar Township, Taunggyi. The victim later died from his injuries.

Saw Han Aye said, “We’ve heard about the case for some time. He is currently in custody. I heard the incident happened on a full moon night after the suspect got angry over the theft of chickens. Legal action has been taken, but I don’t know the full details.”

Authorities have filed charges against both Sai Shwe Htee and his son in connection with the case. - Eleven Media/ANN
