Kite association soars high in Brunei

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Kite Association of Brunei Darussalam (PEKIKIK) held its annual general meeting (AGM) recently at the lecture room of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, marking a milestone in the association’s efforts to strengthen its organisational leadership and community involvement.

The meeting commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, led by the president, Maidin Ahmad, followed by his welcoming remarks, in which he expressed appreciation to the members and extended gratitude to those who rendered valuable service to the association and the nation, particularly in representing Brunei at kite events abroad.

The session continued with the presentation of the activity report by Secretary-General Badarudin Murni, and the financial report by Treasurer-General Tahir Jeludin.

Maidin announced the dissolution of the outgoing Executive Committee, paving the way for the appointment of an interim committee chaired by Mohammad Isa Marsidi, with Ismail Mohamad serving as secretary during the session.

The meeting proceeded with the election of the new PEKIKIK Executive Committee for the 2025–2027 term, resulting in the appointments of Badarudin Murni as President and Tahir Jeludin as Vice President.

Ismail Mohamad was appointed as the Secretary-General; Othman Aliassan as Deputy Secretary-General; Mohammad Isa Marsidi as Treasurer-General and Firdaud Nawi as Deputy Treasurer-General.

In his closing remarks, the newly elected President of PEKIKIK, Badarudin, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to continue supporting the growth of kite events in Brunei and enhancing the association’s contributions to national sports development. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
