BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The Ministry of Defence of Brunei Darussalam on Wednesday (Nov 5) received an official visit from General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), Pakistan Armed Forces, who is currently on an official visit to the country from November 3 to November 6, 2025.
Upon arrival at Bolkiah Garrison, he was welcomed by Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Major General Datuk Paduka Seri Muhammad Haszaimi Bol Hassan, and was accorded a General Salute followed by an inspection of the Guard of Honour mounted by personnel from the Royal Brunei Land Forces.
General Sahir Shamshad Mirza then made a Goodwill Call on the Commander of the RBAF.
During this call, both sides reaffirmed the longstanding friendship and defence cooperation between both armed forces, particularly in the areas of training, professional exchanges, and capacity building.
Later in the afternoon, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza paid a Courtesy Call on the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Major General (Retired) Datuk Paduka Seri Halbi Mohd Yussof.
During the call, both sides acknowledged the close and enduring defence relations between Brunei and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, which were further enhanced through the conduct of the 7th Joint Defence Working Committee Meeting hosted by Brunei last October 14, 2025.
The Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II also underscored the importance of sustaining the momentum of defence cooperation between both countries and expressed hope that the RBAF and the Pakistan Armed Forces will continue to strengthen their close and longstanding ties.
During his stay here, the General is also scheduled to visit several units under the RBAF, as well as Brunei's cultural and historical sites. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
