KFC Brunei launches ‘Nasi Katok Colonel’: Your favourite local bite, the Colonel’s Way

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: KFC Brunei is spicing up local taste buds with a uniquely Bruneian creation, the Nasi Katok Colonel, an exclusive new menu item that fuses the heart of Brunei’s iconic comfort food with KFC’s world-famous flavours.

At just BND2.50 (US$1.92) a la carte, the new menu offers an irresistible combination of KFC’s signature Colonel Rice, two Crispy Tender and a KFC specially prepared sambal, presented in a style inspired by the traditional nasi katok experience.

It’s local, it’s bold, yet distinctly KFC – a true local-meets-global bite made exclusively for Bruneians.

Wrapped neatly for takeaway in the familiar nasi katok style, or served on a plate for dine-in, the Nasi Katok Colonel carries the same homely charm Bruneians know and love.

It brings together tradition and innovation, connecting KFC’s global quality with Brunei’s local flavours, and celebrating the best of both worlds in one hearty meal.

Carrying the tagline ‘Your Favourite Local Bite, the Colonel’s Way’, the new dish is not just another item.

It’s a permanent addition designed to be enjoyed by everyone, from students to working adults.

“Developed exclusively by the KFC Brunei team, this launch represents our commitment to connecting with the local community through dishes that honour familiar flavours, while still carrying the distinct KFC identity,” Head of KFC Brunei Siti Hamizah Hassan said.

“We’ve always believed in creating food that connects people. The Nasi Katok Colonel is our way of saying this is home, this is Brunei, and this is KFC’s way of celebrating that."

Unlike typical nasi katok dishes, this new version uses KFC’s own sambal recipe, a carefully balanced blend of spice, savoury anchovies and rich flavours.

It perfectly complements the fluffy Colonel Rice cooked fresh daily and kept warm to maintain its soft, fluffy texture and the crispy chicken tenders made from SBL fillets marinated, cut, coated and fried to golden perfection.

With its accessible price, spicy flavour and cultural connection, the Nasi Katok Colonel is poised to become Brunei’s new go-to comfort meal, an everyday treat that’s both familiar and exciting. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
