SINGAPORE: A 41-year-old man is expected to be charged in court for the alleged murder of a 38-year-old woman at a hotel in South Bridge Road on Friday (Oct 24).
In a statement on Oct 24, the police said the man went to Bukit Merah East Neighbourhood Police Centre at 7.40am to inform police officers that he had killed his wife.
The police said the suspect was arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder. He is slated to be charged on Oct 25.
Officers found the woman lying motionless in a room at the Capri by Fraser China Square hotel, and she was subsequently pronounced dead by Singapore Civil Defence Force paramedics at the scene.
The Straits Times understands the couple were married and from Indonesia. The woman is believed to have been stabbed.
The hotel is operated by Frasers Hospitality and is located near Chinatown Point.
When ST arrived at around 11.30am, there were no police cars or cordons outside the hotel. Hotel staff allowed only guests to enter the premises.
A staff member at a nearby cafe, who did not want to be identified, said she saw an ambulance and at least four police cars parked outside the hotel when she arrived for work at 8am.
She said the police cars left after 9am.
A tourist from Thailand staying at Capri, who did not want to be identified, said he did not see anything amiss at 8am when he left his room to have breakfast on the second floor of the hotel.
At around noon, a police car and van were seen exiting the carpark near the hotel. ST understands the body was moved out of the hotel earlier.
At 1.50pm, plainclothes police officers came out of the hotel and loaded two trolleys worth of black trunks and evidence bags into an unmarked white van. One of the officers had the word “forensics” on their shirt.

In response to queries, a Frasers Hospitality spokesperson said: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident.
“We are extending our full cooperation to the authorities. Our thoughts are with the family of the individual affected, and we are offering support to guests and employees who may have been impacted during this difficult time.”
If convicted, the man faces the death penalty.
Police investigations are ongoing.
This is the fifth reported murder in 2025. In September, a woman died following a violent attack over a noise dispute between neighbours in Yishun Central.
