Innovation and sustainability are the key to Brunei's national development, says deputy minister

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Xinhua): Innovation and sustainability have long been the guiding principles of Brunei's national development, a deputy minister has said.

The Brunei government remains committed to advancing initiatives and policies that drive economic diversification, foster innovation, and promote sustainability across all sectors of the economy, said Khairuddin Abdul Hamid, Brunei's deputy minister of finance and economy.

The official was talking during the international conference on business, economics, and finance held near the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, on Tuesday.

Khairuddin emphasised that sustainability and innovation are central pillars of economic resilience, which will enable economies to anticipate change, adapt to uncertainty, and create shared prosperity for future generations.

He also highlighted Brunei's national initiatives on renewable energy and innovation-driven growth, aligning with the nation's goal of achieving a low-carbon and diversified economy by 2035. - Xinhua
