BANGKOK: Kanchanaburi Governor Athisan Intara launched an intensive search on Thursday (Oct 2) for 19-year-old British national Lawrence Stallard Honour, who disappeared from his accommodation in Pattaya, Chonburi Province, on Sept 26, 2025.

His Thai-Russian mother, residing in Chonburi, filed a missing persons report in Pattaya, expressing concerns about her son’s whereabouts. Her worry deepened when she detected his email activity near Sangkhla Buri District in Kanchanaburi, close to the Thai-Myanmar border.

Governor Athisan ordered all security agencies and border units to intensify their search efforts after CCTV footage captured Lawrence walking out of a resort in Sangkhla Buri on Sept 27, at approximately 3:30pm, wearing a long-sleeve shirt, trousers, and carrying a backpack.

Immigration Police reported that, on the same day, Lawrence attempted to cross into Phaya Tong Su, Myanmar, while talking on the phone. Authorities intervened, explaining that border crossing was not allowed at that time.

However, Lawrence later tried to climb the fence to cross again, prompting authorities to escort him back on a bus. Afterward, he vanished without a trace.

His mother suspects that her son, a quiet individual with advanced computer skills, may have fallen victim to scammers, who possibly lured him into crossing the border to work with a Myanmar-based call centre gang.

Additionally, it has been reported that Lawrence hitchhiked with a teacher near Sai Yok Noi Waterfall towards Sangkhla Buri. Authorities are currently tracking down the teacher for further information.

Somboon Pansomboon, Chief of Muang Kanchanaburi District, instructed officials to investigate a lead from a Facebook post claiming to have spotted Lawrence in Tha Makham Subdistrict, Kanchanaburi. However, when authorities questioned local residents, accommodation providers, and tourist police, no one could confirm the sighting.

Kanchanaburi Province has urged village heads and local leaders to report immediately if they see a foreign man matching the description.

Anyone with information on Lawrence’s whereabouts is urged to contact emergency services at 191 or Sangkhla Buri Police Station at 0-3459-5300. - The Nation/ANN
