‘Crisis a thorn in regional stability’

THE UN chief warned that the country’s crisis threatens the stability of the region and the rights of millions.

“This crisis, which has deepened since the 2021 military takeover, tramples on the human rights, dignity and safety of millions and threatens regional stability,” secretary-general Antonio Guterres said on Tuesday in remarks delivered on his behalf by Chef de Cabinet Courtenay Rattray at the UN High-Level Conference on the Situation of Human Rights of Rohingya and Other Minorities in Myanmar.
