Australia court fines man over $200,000 for deepfake porn


SYDNEY: A man in Australia was fined over AU$340,000 (US$222,000) on Friday for sharing deepfake porn videos of high-profile women, Canberra's internet regulator said, in the first suit of its kind in the country.

Anthony Rotondo, also known as Antonio Rotondo, admitted in federal court to posting the images, according to the office of eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant, which brought the case against him.
