Malaysia's Primework Studios aims to keep up its amazing winning run with new horror-thriller 'Qifarah'

SOUTH-EAST ASIA: In early September 2025, skywatchers in parts of the Eastern Hemisphere were treated to a total lunar eclipse as Earth blocked the sun's light from the moon.

The eclipse occurred in the evening of Sept. 7 as the moon slipped into shadow and transformed into the infamous "blood moon" for a few minutes.

The same phenomenon is the main premise for the new Malaysian horror-thriller "Qifarah," which makes its way to theaters in the South-East Asia region from Oct 9.

The Blood Moon phenomenon occurs when the moon appears reddish due to the refraction of sunlight by the Earth's atmosphere, thus attracting the attention of astronomy enthusiasts and stargazers.

In various cultures and beliefs, the Blood Moon is often associated with mystical elements and black magic. It is considered the most powerful time for rituals to summon entities or perform supernatural ceremonies. This is the symbolism raised in "Qifarah," making this natural phenomenon seem parallel to the film's storyline.

Produced by Skop Productions in collaboration with MyWay Pictures and Primeworks Studios as official marketing partners, “Qifarah” is not just an ordinary scary film.

The movie tells the story of a man who was entangled in his family's legacy of practicing black magic since childhood. This film conveys a message about the consequences of deviating from the path of truth, as well as retribution (qifarah) for sins and acts of shirk.

Will the main protagonist be able to free himself from the curse of inheritance, or will he become the next victim in an endless black chain?

With incredible dark, gloomy cinematography and eerie, mystical elements, the movie is expected to give the impression of not only entertainment, but also awareness to the audience. Led by the solid performances of Remy Ishak, Sharifah Sakinah, and Liyana Jasmay, this film is ready to create a local spooky phenomenon that will be hard to forget.

Many fans are also eagerly waiting for the trailer of "Qifarah", and it is expected to be one of the major local productions to hit the screens in the region this October.

For the latest developments and exclusive "Qifarah" content, fans can follow lates headlins and news on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube Primeworks Studios channel.
