PHNOM PENH (khmer Times): The Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC) has formally appealed to the United Nations for urgent intervention in what it describes as the arbitrary detention of 18 Cambodian soldiers by the Thai Armed Forces.

In a September 6 letter addressed to Ganna Yudkivska, Chair-Rapporteur of the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, the CHRC called for the case to be examined under the group’s urgent procedure and a declaration that the detention is unlawful.
