HANOI: Vietnam's capital city Hanoi welcomed approximately 2.08 million visitors during the four-day National Day holiday from Saturday to Tuesday (Aug 30-Sept 2), a figure three times higher than the same period last year, Vietnam News Agency reported Tuesday.
The city's tourism revenue reached some 4.5 trillion Vietnamese dong (US$172.1 million) during the holiday, up 80 per cent year-on-year, the state-owned media reported.
The hotel occupancy rate across three- to five-star accommodations averaged 83 pe cent, with many hotels reaching full capacity on Monday, the report noted.
The Hanoi Department of Tourism said that tourism sites in the city remained safe and orderly throughout the holiday period, adding that efforts were intensified to ensure smooth traffic, public sanitation, and quality service for visitors.
Vietnam marked the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day with a grand military parade and many other events in the capital Hanoi during the holiday. - Xinhua
