PHNOM PENH: On August 13, Tep Asnarith, spokesperson for the Ministry of Information, spoke with the National Radio of Cambodia. He highlighted how state and private media have demonstrated adaptability to technological changes.

In this era of digital technology, media organisations have increasingly focused on promoting their content through platforms.

“They must adapt to these technological advancements while continuing to preserve the legacy of Cambodia’s traditional media,” Asnarith said.

As Cambodian officials continue to highlight the growing influence of digital media, TikTok has introduced a range of new features aimed at supporting the well-being of Cambodian families, bolstering protections for creators and encouraging healthier online engagement.

The company said the tools are designed for teens and families using the platform for learning and entertainment, for content creators seeking safer spaces to share their work, and for everyday users. The launch is part of TikTok’s ongoing focus on safety, privacy and security.

“These tools aim to help creators feel safer, more confident and better equipped to keep doing what they love — creating meaningful content that inspires and entertains their audiences,” it said.

Among the wellness-focused additions are Screen Time Management and Sleep Hours, aimed at helping young users develop healthier online habits.

A newly introduced Well-being Missions feature offers short, interactive challenges that reward users with badges for practicing mindful digital behaviour.

The new creator-focussed tools include Creator Care Mode, which filters offensive or unwanted comments; enhanced mute options for TikTok LIVE that allow multiple words, phrases, or emojis to be blocked at once; Content Check Lite, which lets creators preview whether their posts may be ineligible for the “For You” feed before publishing; a Creator Inbox to help organise and respond to messages more efficiently; and a Creator Chat Room enabling direct conversations with eligible followers. - The Phnom Penh Post/ANN
