Flash floods in east-central Myanmar kill six, sweep away homes


YANGON: In Pindaya, six people died after being swept away by flash floods caused by mountain runoff, according to a statement from the Myanmar Fire Services Department.

On July 28 at 4:20 a.m., heavy rainfall occurred in Kone Zaung Village, Theingone Village Tract, Pindaya Township, Shan State, leading to flash floods.

As a result, eight buildings were damaged by the rushing water, and three men and three women lost their lives.

The victims were transported to Theingone Cemetery for burial. Rescue operations were carried out by a fire engine from the Pindaya Township Fire Station, along with members of the local fire brigade and auxiliary fire service teams. - Eleven Media/ANN
