Man who jumped into Terracotta warriors pit in China under investigation


XI'AN: A man who jumped into a Terracotta Warriors pit, causing damage to two armoured warriors in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi province, has been found to suffer from a mental disorder, say local police.

The suspect, surnamed Sun, 30, has now been put under police control, said the Lintong branch of Xi'an Bureau of Public Security in a statement Saturday morning (May 31).

The incident took place at about 5.30pm on Friday when Sun climbed over the guardrails and protective nets of the archaeological site and jumped into the No. 3 pit, pushing and pulling the armoured warriors, resulting in damage to the historical relics, rewad the statement. – China Daily/ANN
