Father, son suspected of killing cop nabbed in Sultan Kudarat, Philippines

ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat (Philippines): The father and son suspected of having shot dead a police officer on Tuesday (May 27), were arrested following a pursuit operation in Barangay Kalawag here before dawn Wednesday (May 28).

Lt. Colonel Julius Malcontento, Isulan police chief, said witnesses had pointed to the father and son engaged in a construction business here as perpetrators in the murder of Police Executive Master Sergeant Geoffrey Angub, 46.

Angub, a resident of Barangay Kalawag and assigned at the Bagumbayan municipal police station, was killed in Barangay Kalawag II on Tuesday as he was walking home.

Vincent Dalanon Sr., 54, and his son Vincent Jr., 29, surrendered to authorities in Barangay Sulit, Polomolok, South Cotabato when they realised the police were closing in on them.

Both suspects are now detained at the Isulan police detention facility awaiting the filing of appropriate charges against them. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
