Laos eyes solar power project to enhance energy production

VIENTIANE: The Lao government will collaborate with development partners to study the feasibility of solar power projects in Bolikhamxay and Sekong provinces, aimed at boosting energy production and supporting socio-economic development.

The project will span 4,013 hectares in Bolikhamxay and 1,662 hectares in Sekong provinces, the local Pasaxon newspaper reported on Thursday (March 27).

A technical team will be formed to conduct comprehensive feasibility studies, providing accurate data to guide the project's development and ensure it meets high standards.

The project aims to maximise Laos' potential as a key energy source in South-East Asia while identifying effective energy storage solutions for long-term sustainability.

The project will also significantly benefit local economic growth, infrastructure development and environmental protection, according to the report. - Xinhua
