Jaclyn Victor, who celebrated 20 years in the music industry last year, is performing here for her new album launch in Kuala Lumpur.
IN celebrating the 20th anniversary of her Malaysian Idol win, Jaclyn Victor has launched a new album titled 'Glorious'. and on top of that the entire effort was recorded and produced in the United States.
Working alongside Malaysian writers and producers based in New York, Jaclyn's team have created a nine-track album consisting of two English tracks and seven Malay tracks. The album will once again be distributed by her long time partners, Sony Music, Malaysia's top recording music outfit.
Throughout the 20-year evolution of her career, the album aims to redefine Jaclyn Victor as an artist with a fresh sound, showcasing her versatile vocal abilities.
The title track of the album, ‘Glorious’, is actually an English version of Jaclyn's career-defining song, ‘Gemilang’.
Already the song since it was launched last week, has almost 690,000 thousands hits on YoiuTube.
Another song from the album, "BDT (Best Dang Time)", which is the other wholly English song in the compilation, has been getting big support in China.
"The whole album is a gift of love for my fans. I gave it all. It is also the seventh album in my career in my 20th year and I really wanted to give my very best of efforts," said the 46-year-old Jaclyn.
"So far the support for the album have been excellent and I'm really, really thankful to my fans."
Jaclyn also took time to meet many of her fans during the official launch of the "Glorious" album by her and Sony Music in Kuala Lumpur of Wednesday (Feb 19).
As for the album itself, ranging from high octane rock anthems like ‘Inilah Saatnya’ and contemporary pop tunes like ‘Lepaskan Saja’ to heart wrenching ballads such as ‘Sesal Tak Bermakna’ and ‘Airmataku’, the compositions promise to take listeners on an emotional journey that will resonate with both loyal fans and new audiences.
Drawing inspiration from popular musical hits while honoring the fundamentals of the original, the producers have crafted a new arrangement featuring modern sound elements intertwined with Jaclyn's powerful vocals.
"I can promise my fans that there is much difference in my new album. Unlike my previous efforts, there are many preppy efforts in this album and I'm really hoping it hits well with all my fans," said Jaclyn.
In order to capture the album's essence and convey its underlying message, the composers and writers dedicated months to understanding Jaclyn's personal and artistic journey as a woman navigating the highs and lows of life.
Essentially Jacyln added: "Glorious is a compilation of songs that reflect themes of love lost and love regained, self-empowerment, and resilience in the face of challenges."
"Glorious" is also now available on major streaming platforms such as Spotify, Joox, Apple Music, and YouTube Music.
