SINGAPORE: South Korean pop star G-Dragon and British music icon Elton John will be back in Singapore as headlining music acts at the Formula One (F1) Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2025.

G-Dragon will perform on the first night, Oct 3, at the Padang Stage in Zone 4, while John will be the race weekend’s closing act on Oct 5, the third and final night, on the same stage.

G-Dragon, often dubbed the “King of K-pop”, recently made his big comeback. In October and November 2024, the rapper, singer and leader of K-pop boy band BigBang released new solo music after a seven-year hiatus and performed at the Mama Awards in November, his first official performance at the show in nine years.

His new album Ubermensch drops on Feb 25 and the Ubermensch world tour kicks off in late March.

The 36-year-old has performed in Singapore several times, both as a solo artiste and with BigBang. His last show here, as a solo act, was at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in 2017.

John, one of the world’s most celebrated singers, ended his extensive global farewell tour, Farewell Yellow Brick Road, in 2023, but has staged several shows since then.

Over a music career that has lasted more than six decades, he is known for a string of hits such as Tiny Dancer (1972), Sacrifice (1989), Can You Feel The Love Tonight (1994) and, most recently, Cold Heart (Pnau remix), a 2021 duet with English-Albanian pop star Dua Lipa.

The 77-year-old has also staged several concerts in Singapore, last performing here at The Star Theatre in 2015.

The F1 concerts, which take place at several venues across the Marina Bay Street Circuit, are traditionally some of the biggest concerts held in Singapore. The Padang stage, in previous years, saw crowds of around 60,000.

The executive director of Singapore GP, Adam Firth, says in a statement that more music acts will be announced.

The race event will feature a brand new Marina Bay Grandstand. Singapore GP says demand for tickets has been “exceptionally high” and that many ticket categories are already sold out.

Single-day walkabout tickets have been released, starting at $148 for a Friday Zone 4 Walkabout ticket.
