Laos not supplying power to illicit call centres in Myanmar

VIENTIANE: Electricite du Laos (EDL) confirmed on Tuesday (Feb 11) that electricity transmitted to Myanmar is not used by illicit call centres, after both sides carried out inspections. (EDL is the state corporation of Laos that owns and operates the country's electricity generation, electricity transmission and electricity distribution assets. The company also manages the import and export of electricity from the national electricity grid of the country.)

The state enterprise reiterated that the power is supplied only to public users, including residents, small businesses, government buildings and essential social services such as schools and hospitals.
