Brunei releases ‘O’ Level, IGCSE examinations results


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The results of the Brunei-Cambridge GCE (BCGCE) ‘O’ Level and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Examinations for the October/November 2024 session were released, the Ministry of Education (MoE) through the Department of Examinations announced.

At the national level, 5,533 candidates sat for the October/November 2024 examination session. Some 5,429 (98.12 per cent) were school candidates, and 104 (1.88 per cent) were private candidates.

At the national level, 1,045 candidates (18.89 per cent) achieved eight ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above, while 2,444 candidates (44.17 per cent) achieved five ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above in the October/November 2024 examination session.

Meanwhile, 2,875 candidates (51.96 per cent) achieved four ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above.

At the school level, 1,045 candidates (19.25 per cent) achieved eight ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above, while 2,444 candidates (45.02 per cent) achieved five ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above.

Meanwhile, 2,873 candidates (52.92 per cent) achieved four ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above.

Among the 4,619 government school candidates, 767 candidates (16.61 per cent) achieved eight ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above, while 1,880 candidates (40.70 per cent) achieved five ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above.

Meanwhile, 2,260 candidates (48.93 per cent) achieved four ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above.

For private school candidates, 278 candidates (34.32 per cent) out of a total of 810 candidates achieved eight ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above, while 564 candidates (69.63 per cent) achieved five ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above.

Some 613 candidates (75.68 per cent) achieved four ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above.

Fifty-seven school candidates (1.05 per cent) achieved Grade A*/A in 8 to 11 subjects, of which 15 were from government schools.

A total of 22 out of 49 schools, comprising 17 government schools and five private schools, have shown an improvement ranging between 0.34 per cent and 24.38 per cent compared to the achievement in 2023.

The national-level performance percentage for candidates in core subjects who obtained Grades A-C ranges between 4.40 per cent and 79.57 per cent.

Meanwhile, six other subjects at the national level (Grades A-C) achieved at least 50 per cent in the October/November 2024 examination session.

Students who sat for the examination can collect their result slips from their schools, while private candidates are required to collect their result slips at the Department of Examination’s Counter, One-Stop Service Centre, Ground Floor, Block C of the MoE during office hours.

Candidates wishing to improve their BCGCE ‘O’ Level and IGCSE examination results can register for the May/June 2025 session. Registrations are open until February 13, 2025.

For school candidates wishing to register for the BCGCE ‘O’ Level and IGCSE May/June 2025 session, registration must be completed through their schools. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
