Cambodia issues health alert on hMPV outbreak in China, similar to flu, Covid-19

PHNOM PENH: The Communicable Disease Control Department (CDC) warns of a human metapneumovirus (hMPV) outbreak in China. hMPV causes symptoms like the common cold and Covid-19, with rising infections, especially among children, prompting public health caution.

“Dr Chen Chih-jung of Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital stated in an interview on Thursday (Dec 26) that hMPV is similar to respiratory syncytial virus [RSV], which primarily affects children under the age of two, whereas hMPV tends to infect older children,” the CDC noted.
