Laos to improve health service capacity


VIENTIANE (Xinhua): The Lao government plans to strengthen health service management and delivery in the field of maternal and child health and nutrition.

Lao officials and development partners have gathered in the capital Vientiane for a health facility assessment, according to the Ministry of Health on Saturday.

The assessment provided information about the availability and use of health services.

Meanwhile, An exhibition of traditional Lao silk kicked off in Laos, displaying items crafted by Lao weavers and aims to raise public awareness of the importance of silk in Lao culture and craftsmanship.

The exhibition opened on Wednesday at the Traditional Lao Silk Residence in Lao capital Vientiane, and will continue until early next year, Lao Economic Daily reported on Friday.

The exhibition showcases over 100 woven textiles, some nearly 300 years old, collected from across Laos.

The exhibition celebrates the ethnic diversity and cultural richness of Lao textiles, focusing on heritage preservation, innovation, and the global recognition of Lao handicrafts.

The collection represents various ethnic groups and features traditional costumes, ceremonial fabrics, and decorative pieces that reflect the craftsmanship and intellectual heritage of Laos.

In addition to the textile displays, visitors can witness demonstrations of the textile-making process.
