Myanmar to compete in athletics at Paris 2024 Paralympic Games

YANGON: Myanmar will compete in athletics at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, France, an official from the Myanmar Paralympic Sports Federation said on Thursday (Aug 22).

"Myanmar's para-athlete Soe Pay, together with his coach and manager, left Yangon for the Paris Paralympic Games yesterday," U Tun Naing Oo, secretary of the federation, told Xinhua on Thursday.

"For the Paris Paralympics, only Soe Pay from Myanmar will be competing. As it is not easy to participate in the Paralympic Games, we are proud to have him represent Myanmar," he said.

Soe Pay has qualified for the Paralympic Games as he won medals at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) and Asian Para Games, U Tun Naing Oo said.

According to the federation, Soe Pay will compete in the men's 100-metre and 200-metre T64 athletics events at the Paris Paralympic Games.

The Paris 2024 Paralympics will be held between Aug 28 and Sept 8. - Xinhua
