BANGKOK:Thai politics turned a new page on Friday (Aug 16) when Pheu Thai Party leader Paetongtarn Shinawatra became the 31st prime minister of Thailand, as well as the youngest Thai PM at age 37 and the second woman PM in the country after her aunt Yingluck Shinawatra (2011-2014).

Hailing from a family of business tycoons and politicians, Paetongtarn is the youngest daughter of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra (2001-2006), who is seen as the de facto leader of the ruling Pheu Thai Party.
