BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Ten pilot scholars selected for the Deck Officer Cadet programme under Darussalam Pilotage Services Sdn Bhd (DPS) left the country on Thursday to undertake a comprehensive diploma in nautical studies at the Malaysian Maritime Academy Sdn Bhd (MMASB), Akademi Laut Malaysia (ALAM), in an intensive three-year curriculum.

The Deck Officer Cadet programme is designed to equip the scholars with the knowledge and skills required for a career in maritime navigation and operations.

The send-off event marked a milestone for both the scholars and the company, reflecting their commitment to fostering the next generation of maritime professionals. Upon completion of the programme, the scholars will be awarded a diploma in nautical studies, along with certificates of competencies (COC) as Deck Officers.

The training not only signifies their academic achievement but also formally recognises their qualifications to undertake significant responsibilities within the maritime industry.

The diploma and COC are crucial milestones in their journey toward becoming proficient Deck Officers, capable of navigating and managing vessels with expertise and precision.
