BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam was present to watch the finals of His Majesty’s Polo Cup 2024 on Saturday (July 13) at the Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club.

The finals saw MB Polo Team and Brunei Polo Team battling it out for the top spot.

His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Anisha Rosnah binti Adam; His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah; Her Royal Highness Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Suami Abdullah Nabil Mahmoud Al-Hashimi were also present.

On arrival, His Majesty was greeted by His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Sanggamara Diraja Major General (Rtd) Pengiran Haji Ibnu Basit bin Pengiran Datu Penghulu Pengiran Haji Apong.

MB Polo Team, led by His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, emerged as the champions of His Majesty’s Polo Cup 2024 after defeating Brunei Polo Team, led by Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah, with the score of 8 to 7½.

MB Polo Team comprised His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Bahar, Farid Abdullah and Huzaimi Mahari while Brunei Polo Team comprised Her Royal Highness Princess ‘Azemah Ni’matul Bolkiah, Idris Sirat, Fernando Rivera, Abdullah Afiq and Mohd Basyiir bin Hardy Sufardi.

His Majesty also graciously obliged to present prizes to the MB Polo Team and Brunei Polo Team as well as second runner-up AHMIBAH team led by His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah and third runner-up Jerudong Park team led by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul ‘Ali Yil-Kabier bin Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz.

The finals were jointly organised by the Royal Brunei Polo Association and the Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club, in conjunction with His Majesty’s 78th birthday celebration. – Borneo Bulletin/ANN
