Phnom Penh ranked as second most expensive city in Cost of Living City Ranking for South-East Asia; KL placed in ninth spot

PHNOM PENH (Khmer Times): An international survey of the cost of living in cities has ranked the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh as the second most expensive city to live in in South-East Asia.

Mercer’s Cost of Living City Ranking 2024 evaluated 226 cities across five continents, comparing the costs of over 200 items in each location including housing, transportation, food, clothing, household goods, and entertainment.

Hong Kong leads the overall list, with the South-East Asian country Singapore coming in second – and also staying at the top of the SEA Chart.

Phnom Penh comes second of South East Asian cities – and is the 123rd most expensive city to live in in the world.

After Singapore and Phnom Penh, Bangkok is in third place followed by Manila, Jakarta, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Yangon, Kuala Lumpur, Vientiane and Johor Bahru. - Khmer Times
