Myanmar's 59th gems emporium concludes in Naypyidaw


YANGON: The 59th Gems Emporium of Myanmar has concluded in the capital city of Naypyidaw, the official daily The Mirror reported on Monday (May 13).

A total of 379 pearl lots, 88 gem lots and 3,251 jade lots were sold during the 10-day event held between May 3 and May 12, the report said.

The emporium was organised with the goals of generating foreign income, providing economic benefits for citizens and supporting micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) of gems business in Mandalay and Sagaing regions with raw materials, it said.

The gems emporium, sponsored by Myanmar's Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, has been held since 1964. - Xinhua
