S. Korea probes whether woman's death linked to doctor walkout

SEOUL: The South Korean government is planning to investigate the damage caused to the health-care system by the walkout of about 9,000 trainee doctors, which has led to surgery cancellations and people being turned away from emergency rooms.

Vice Health Minister Park Minsoo (pic) told reporters on Tuesday (Feb 27) that the government plans to create an immediate response team to quickly handle situations where the health and life of people are threatened by the walkout, which has resulted in surgeries at major hospitals being reduced by about 50%.
