Fire kills three at rented house in Vietnam

HANOI: Three people were found dead in a rented house's major fire in Vietnam's Central Highlands province of Gia Lai in the early Tuesday (Jan 9) morning, Vietnam News Agency reported.

The victims were identified as a 45-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl. Another was a man with an identity yet to be confirmed.

The rented house covers an area of 20sq m with clothes, an electric bike and a motorbike inside. The properties perished in the fire, local media Tuoi Tre (Youths) reported.

In 2023, Vietnam saw 3,440 fires, which killed 146 people, injured 109 others, and caused property losses of about 878 billion Vietnamese dong (US$36.1 million), according to the country's Fire and Rescue Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security. - Xinhua
