JAKARTA, April 30 (Jakarta Post/ANN): Daily Covid-19 confirmed cases have reached over 2,000 in Indonesia, in a rise of new cases soon after Hari Raya Aidilfitir as mudik (exodus) travelers return to cities and amid the looming threat of the new Arcturus strain.

On Friday noon, the government recorded 2,067 new daily confirmed cases, bringing the total tally of confirmed Covid-19 cases to 6,771,072 since the first case was confirmed on March 2, 2020. The numbers are expected to increase a bit during the weekend as Indonesia get ready to reopen after the long holidays on May 2.
