Govt, firm sign 20-year lease for waste management, recycling services

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Borneo Bulletin/Asia News Network): A 2.1302-hectare site at Kampong Tanjong Maya in the Tutong District has been leased by the government to Kehasan (B) Sdn Bhd to carry out and provide waste management services and recycling activities for 20 years.

A signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Development (MoD) on Thursday (April 20).

Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment) at the MoD Dr Nor Imtihan Abdul Razak and Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) Director Hajah Martinah Tamit signed the agreement on behalf of the government.

Meanwhile, Kehasan Directors Pengiran Dato Paduka Osman Patra and Jefrey Shim Fook Loi signed on behalf of the company.

According to the MoD, the agreement was in line with the government strategy of implementing joint venture projects with the private sector in maintaining a clean and safe environment through improving waste management and recycling activities.
